3 Quarters

The purpose of the following video was to inform my YouTube subscribers of the Dashkin Kickstarter project and answer some questions.

That was 24 hours ago. The funding was sitting on 46%.
Now, at the time of this writing, Dashkin is 78% funded on Kickstarter.

update July 31: we have reached and exceeded our funding with 17 days still to go in the campaign. Thanks for all who pledged and/or spread the word for us! There’s still time to pledge if you want some of those rewards. New rewards coming in the next update.

We’ve taken a ton of pledges, been retweeted and shared hundreds of times, including by Mr Canabalt himself, AdamAtomic (OMGAH!). A handful of top-end pledges mean that the game now has 1 Producer credit and 2 Executive Producer credits. It’s been a very, very good day.

As mentioned in the video, we have plans for any excess funding. However, in the YouTube comments, someone questioned the console/Steam games path, asking whether the game will remain free. The answer is that this Kickstarter campaign will fund the free Flash version of the game. It’ll remain online, free to play on bitey.com, Newgrounds and probably everywhere else, right up until the robots inject us all with mercury and flood our cities.

Any funding OVER 200% will go directly towards rebuilding the game from the ground up, in preparation for other platforms. That version of Dashkin is likely to be much better, bigger, more expensive and insane than the Flash version. That’s the version that’ll have a price tag.

Stay tuned!

  1. Yay Adam!
Doing us freelance animators proud sporting that trademark animator hairstyle, five o’clock shadow & tired eyes! Congrats on the funding and I look forward to any future development plans!

  2. Really looking forward to the game! Already gave my pledge 🙂

  3. OMG OMG OMG OMG WHY AM I NOT A MILLIONAIRE!! I would have pledged the entire 200%
I just saw the latest brackenwood short and i loved it, then i thought to myself, Bitey would be an awesome game mascot kindda like sonic just way cooler. Then i see this little thing and i am all excited aaand then i realise you haven’t reached your funding yet.. Oh cruel world why would you make Adam shave goats..
This game needs to go on the consoles, i see a new Splosion man in the making 😀

  4. It’s so good to finally be able to put a face to your name, Adam! I doubt you remember but I interviewed you about seven years ago for my school newspaper, and I really appreciated it. I’m super happy to help you guys out with funding the game; it looks amazing! 😀

    All the best!!

  5. Hey Adam, you should tell the folks @ indiegames.com about this. They love their kickstarters, do those guys, and they’ve managed to churn out serious bread (churning bread?!!) for similar projects.

  6. Great job thinking to appeal to the youtube.com crowd! Hopefully that will get the rest of the funding needed between now and August.

Just in case it doesn’t work out though I’ve got a whole pasture full of extra hairy goats that I’ve been putting off shaving . That is as long as you’ve got your I.G.S.A. (International Goat Shavers Association) certification up to date I’d be glad to toss some work your way ;-). As long as you have your own shears, gloves, hat, shirt, pants (underpants are optional), shoes, bring your own lunch, don’t use my bathroom facilities, never look directly at me or the goats and I can pay you in Vietnamese Dong currency (current exchange is 1 Aussie dollar = 22, 316 Dong) we should be able to do some business.

Just kidding about the goat section (guess I’m feeling a bit silly this morning). Best of luck…. Go team Bitey!

  7. Congrats! You did it!

And with 20 days to go!

Now you can pay the fiddler, and we can play the game. 🙂

  8. Huzzah! I hadn’t checked this site for a long time, and this was a pleasant surprise to find upon return. Congratulations on making your funding goal! I know you already made the goal, but I wanted to throw some money your way; you’ve certainly entertained us with your great animations, and I’m excited to see more!

It’s great to finally put a face to the name, and I hope you have a fun time finishing up the game. Good luck with all your future projects, too!

  9. Great Job everyone! Hopefully we can raise enough to put the game onto systems!

    • the Kickstarter campaign ends in a couple of weeks. After that we’ll get to work sending out the backer rewards and finishing the game.
