Yeah i would love to make this almost completely open source
because then it would allow for someone new to the forums to
learn more about flash and create a relaxed atmosphere

Character design for next game in progress.

Since we're all waiting for Adam's permission, I'm already getting anxious and have started to sketch a character.  The area I want to create will be along the lines of vast fields of green and the character will be finding their way to "something important" (something that maybe we can all agree on as an objective for our characters to find) and exploring the area so that people can take in the beautiful world of Brackenwood as each of us see it.

This is one of the bigger projects that I have done, and I have commited a lot of my time to start conceptualizing my character and the world he lives in.

alright i registered on your site, for some reason it left my animation platform as a "?" i selected flash MX btw.

adzy-2k6 i am considering teaming up to make a platformer, if thats alright. I have some platformer prototypes that we could use for it, it has a score bar, health, vcam, the player which can be adjusted for co-op 2 player stuff, currently working out some bugs with the enemy. the only problem i see for this is that you are using CS4 and i'm using flash mx 2004 ( i know its old.. lol) and the actionscript could conflict with each other.

so... yeah, if your looking for a pretty basic platformer than we might be able to work something out. if not then i'll probably stick to animation.  Grin

@ Darkswift2204, adzy-2k6.

well i think i may re consider the doing of the coding part. I would have to get the code put together and have it sent over to and
put together with the artwork, cause i have a flash MX 2004. once it has been sent i wouldn't really be able to see the progress or do
much with it after that.

so i think i may just go animation. sorry.  Sad

@Tophatwonder

too bad... it's because we can't get enough AS2? right?
well i think i can work with your file, but i would just be me, and if we don't get another couple AS2, it will only be AS3...

anyway, what a pain in the ass is having different versions, don't you think?

so, i was thinking on try to make an animation for the preloader (yes i can't animate a little too, but just a little), so i will start to make it, will show you when finishes, anyway, i think i am just going to do the animation and someone would have to make the preloader with it
is that ok? can anyone help me with this?

Do Not Think of What it Is You Eat . . .But of Who

I’d be interested in joining, If I’m still welcome. I’ve never done anything like a collab before so I’ll need some instructions from the team I happen to be in (or I can work solo).  I’m using Flash 8, I have little-to-no ability with AS, so I’d be useless with any sort of game.

Are we still discussing a theme? We seem to have our heart set on using different parts of Brackenwood and depicting a few diverse terrains (Mountains, Plains, Underwater, etc.) but has Adam contacted anyone yet? I could probably reach him if necessary.  We need his say before we can start running with this plan; that should be our top priority.

I have a few ideas for a theme but if we really want to push for the Brackenwood areas idea, I don’t want to complicate things too much. I love the proposal and I have a good scheme of what I would want to do if we get permission.

---
Are we doing an Animation and a Game? Just an Animation? A movie as a reward for winning a game? A movie that introduces a game? A separate animation and game? What’s plan there?

Well, hopefully this image will show my idea of what i think should happen

As you can see, the files are placed into one collab, and each peice is both standalon and a peice Tongue (sorry that it is so messay, but i am not an artist and it was rushed because i am going to the cinema in 10 mins XD). There seems to be more AS2 coders here, so i may just switch to a role of organising and publishing this, and allowing you guys to do the coding. Smiley. While there are a lot of flash CS3 and CS4 participants, i think a lot have already said they are not coders, so their version becomess irrelevant for this debate.

Edit: Looks like the image wont show. Basically, imagine a line donw the middle, the top linking to the movies, the bottom listing the games. You can make whatever you want to make for this, aslong as it is short. Then, we will see if we can place them together like a normal collab, and the veiwer can jst select the peice theyre interested in (and movies will have a view all button). Peices of this can be stand alone, or 2-3 peices can be related (in which case, they will be played next to each other). These are only my ideas of what i think is happening anyway, and i think other people will have a better idea, so we may end up going with theirs. We still need permission to use brackenwood anyway, so we have time to discuss this.

i'm up for a collab but just the animation part though because i cant code for my life but i'm not a bad animator so once there's a proper set theme and we get in teams or whatever id like to be part of a story piece or something

Alright, this thing is starting to turn out. Adam hasn't responded to my message yet, though, so we are waiting on that. Everybody should choose what sort of terrain/region they are doing, and it should be posted on the website, so that people won't choose the same thing. Unless there are that many people.  Grin

I would like an area where the forest meets rocky mountains if possible.

[For some reason the Project Myst website stopped working for me right now]

EDIT] Nevermind, it works again

For all new participants, please register at the Project Myst Head Quarters site under "join Project Myst" http://projectmyst.webs.com/

What I'm going to recommend is to start creating concepts of your characters and we'll assign different areas later (if Adam accepts) unless your character is dependent on a certain area, just post what area you need.
