I think we should aim for something like this http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/446489 for quality. As you can see, some authors used sticks, but i think for this, you should try to put a little character into the sticks, eg faces, and hair on its head if it is a big foot etc. i think by putting people in charge, Aldv just meant the people who can put the peices together at the end, and help keep this thing structured. If everyone does there own thing, this could end up messy, and make it difficult to place all things in one file. As for deadline, I have exams until the 11th of june, so will not be able to do much to contribute to a peice, but i will be able to do small coding peices. i tried animation, but i am not good at it, and have little artistic talent at all, so my role would purely be coding, but if someone makes a graphic for a preloader and a title/menu page, I should have enough time to code the necessary parts for that (ofc, we still need to choose which version of flash we are using). Also, we will need to be carefull with this theme, we dont want to clash too much with the official brackenwood storyline, to prevent any confusion with new members .

I think what's going on here is actually a good thing. Everybody is starting to crack down on what they want and actually working as a community.
The deadline I set was to only establish a theme that ALL of us are capable of being able to use as a tool for our collaboration.
If the deadline conflicts with anybody's schedule, then we can most certainly delay it, but I was just trying to make it a reasonable deadline to get a foot down on this project.
This being a collaboration, everyone's style will be different, so if it's stick figures to full body, so be it. Just as long as it follows the selected theme.
Also, we need to somehow bring more Brackenwood members into this project to get a more diverse variety of styles.

We could just set up the deadline for November or December. So that nobody is rushed in their part and more people would join. You thought my sticks wouldn't look like Brackenwood characters? Of course they would. I can also do some Backgrounds on the animations. Unless, I am the only one that thinks my backgrounds are partially good ha. So this is like one big game, with different animators and coders on different levels, then at the end, there will be a movie and it will show all of the characters together, getting the whatever it is they are going after, am I right?

Alcaknight, I think that's a very good idea. We should all post what software we are using and if we are using AS2 or AS3.
So are we all fine with making our own version of Brackenwood with our own characters? Different styles are a must in this project so nobody should have to worry about not meeting the bar. I'm sure if you are confident in your own style then there should be no worries.
If we all agree on creating/expanding Brackenwood then we can get a start on this project early and start on a storyboard. If there are any objections, please post your reasons and ideas.
EDIT: I am using Flash CS4

Sounds good. I am using Flash CS3, so there should be no problem if somebody is using mx or CS4 if they send me the file, and I convert it.

The pirate Collab was awesome... =D Well, in that case, it would be great to have stickys too... Sounds good. I am using Flash CS3, so there should be no problem if somebody is using mx or CS4 if they send me the file, and I convert it. really?... you.. you can??? That would help of all of us so much... i'm curious, do you know AS... if there were some little thing on AS2, would you be able to change it to AS3? We could just set up the deadline for November or December. So that nobody is rushed in their part and more people would join. The deadline now is for suggestions, we are going to take a little more time for everything else, but we haven't set how much... how much?... enough to complete it

1. Yes, I can convert the files. 2. Sorry, I have no clue on Actionscript. Except for a play button, a reset button, and a preloader in AS2. And I even screw that up sometimes.

Also, I think the participants page helps us with knowing who is involved so that we can get an idea of how long each person's segment should be.

Since this will be a Brackenwood kind of style, we will need different landscapes for example, forests, mountainious regions, maybe a snowy place, jungle, underwater, etc. So different levels would have different backgrounds? Unless we want just to have a foresty, green background like in the Brackenwood flashes. And would we have one background, or would the backgrounds be constantly changing? I think it should look abit like this. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/420606With the same background, and different platforms that the character will jump/walk/do its thing on.

We need to decide what we are doing and when it should be done for. We also need to set the fps, AS version and what exactly we are going to do about brackenwood, and screen size. Once those 4 key points are out the way, we will need to choose whether we are doing small single or team based peices which follow the theme but are generally unrelated, or something like pass my flash (search on newgrounds). After that, this project will become a lot simpler.

Adzy i thought we were making a collab to me that seems to be the most efficient way to get something on this kind of scale done and i think were going to have a storyboard and such all though that pass my flash was awesome

I'd recommend the fps to be about 24 so that the animations are smooth. for AS, we should leave that up to coders to decide then animators can just animate in whatever AS was chosen. Screen size could be based around Phillip's works, or to a reasonable consensus. It's up to people if they want to pm and get together to do a segment, or just work on a solo. If anybody would like to team up with me, I wouldn't mind, but what I have in planned for the segment I want to do is create new character and a new part of Brackenwood such as a mountain area, or a water area. So if anybody would like to team up, by all means.
