A Kickstart for Bitey

Since we embarked on this quest in November 2010, our BIGGEST step towards a release was taken today. Sean and I launched a Kickstarter campaign for Dashkin!

If you don’t already know, Kickstarter is a site through which ordinary folks like you and I can pledge a few dollars to help fund an artistic project. It’s an all-or-nothing deal though. If our funding goal isn’t reached by the set date, no money changes hands.
(See this Kickstarter Basics FAQ)
(Also, how pledging works)

So we’re offering rewards to our backers, people (like you!) who pledge whatever amount they wish to help us fund our project. Depending on how much you wish to pledge, rewards vary:

  • “Special Thanks” credits in the game
  • Downloadable prints
  • Bitey plushies (hand made by MoriChax!)
  • One-off original Bitey drawings (by me!)
  • Downloadable Brackenwood music packs
  • Bitey t-shirts
  • Stickers
  • One-of-a-kind life-like Bitey mask (hand made by me!)
  • Limited edition wooden Dashkin figurines (hand carved and numbered by me!)
  • “Brackenwood Wildlife” collector cards.. the list goes on.

oh look! Here’s one now:

This is essentially the proper serious clever version of what I did on Waterlollies. I offered a “special thanks” credit at the end of the movie for people who made Brackenwood donations. Even today, looking at the huge list of names at the end of Waterlollies, it’s plain to see the outpouring of support, for which I was not prepared and am forever grateful.

Dashkin Kickstarter on Reddit

If you’re interested in helping us out, stamping your name on the Dashkin game or taking away a little piece of Dashkin memorabilia, first of all, THANK YOU! (I smile-scream and squeeze you). Next, head over to our Kickstarter project right now and check it out, particularly the backer rewards in the right-hand column. Most importantly, if you tell your friends and help us spread the word, Bitey and I will visit you in your dreams.. and this time it won’t be a nightmare.

  4. Hello Adam,

I was on my way to contribute and then :(
Created a kick starter account, found I already have an amazon account(very suprising), but got stuck to the payment section. It says, credit card number. I have a Visa debit card, whose number Amazon is not accepting. Could you please see into it.

Is there any direct payment method available?? I absolutely have no idea, just a wild guess.

    Reagrds,

  5. Holy crap man i want all of those prizes T..T I’m gonna be happy to help!!~

  6. Backed and shared on twitter.

Good luck with this Adam! You’ve already made great progress. let’s hope it keeps going strong and you get that 200% funding.

  7. If I had a credit/bank card, I would be all on this! D: But sadly, all I can do is sport my Bitey T-shirt and give emotional support!

  8. Just to validate your blog posting: Clicked over to kickstarter; backed it; tweeted it.

    All the best.

  9. I just saw the videos on kickstarter, I’ve been a long time fan of your work, I’m happy to contribute,
and I have a suggestion for you.
Currently I’m an IT student, programmer, and have been a gamer all my life. Å couple years ago I met the senior developer of EA’s FIFA 2009.
He talked about the complexity of coding high speed ‘sprints’ in gaming.
Although he was speaking about a soccer videogame the same principles apply to most high speed games.
I won’t go into details, the conclusion (after testing and testing) was that for these kind of games it useful to zoom out whenever you are going at such speed, in this case to increase a bit the player’s reaction time to obstacles.

  10. Backing when I can afford $200, which’ll be in a few days time. Posted this up on Tumblr, too.

Congratulations on the already-enthusiastic response. :)

  11. Im really excited to hear this is on track! you can count me in as far as support. Like so many others, I cant wait for this to launch. good luck!

  12. Backed, and shared on Twitter & Facebook! :D
